Policy for Solicited Ratings & Public/Private Ratings
Solicited ratings
Solicited ratings are initiated at the request of clients. Beacon Ratings undertakes solicited rating assignment having entered into a written agreement with the client. The agreement, inter-alia, includes the following:
- Clear definition of rights and liabilities of each party
- Fee to be charged by Beacon Ratings
- Client undertakes to provide accurate, complete and timely information for the purpose.
- Client undertakes to cooperate with Beacon Ratings in order for it to arrive at a rating.
- Annual review of ratings during the tenor of the agreement.
- Client refusal to cooperate during the agreement period shall lead to outstanding ratings suspension/withdrawal and SEC and the public shall be promptly notified of the action.
Public ratings
Public rating occurs where a client opts for “public” dissemination of a rating. Beacon Ratings disseminates the finalized rating on a non-selective and free of charge basis on its website and in the media.
Private ratings
Private rating occurs where a client opts for “private” dissemination of a rating. Beacon Ratings discloses the rating to the client only. Where a client has opted for private rating assignments and later decides to make such rating public, the rating shall first be publicly announced by Beacon Ratings before the client can do the same.
